Christ consciousness is defined as taking in the essence of the Christ. When you think of “the Christ” what comes to mind? Peace, righteousness, love, holiness, and compassion just to name a few are all the qualities a Christ conscious person would have. A person in this category knows the difference between right and wrong. They understand that everyone is a human being and deserves to be treated with respect. They honor and respect their neighbors because they honor and respect themselves. No religion is responsible for this action.
The Spirit works with your Christ consciousness instructing and guiding you in your life. The Spirit helps you control your emotions and actions, so that you can stay within your boundaries and act accordingly in every situation. The essence of the Christ is inside of you. Most of us is born with it because it came from our Creator. It lies within our souls and is not gained through religion.
Now, religion may help you identify these qualities within yourself. It may also help you with maintaining the essence of Christ and that’s definitely a positive thing, but it’s not necessary.
Religion separates oppose to uniting. We become so focused on our differences in belief that we don’t focus on the true meaning of our spirituality. Religion’s only purpose is to bring peace and an understanding to the Spirit within. If we moved our focus to this concept of peace, everyone would be on the same page and there would be no violence in the name of religion or God.
God (the Creator) is about peace and keeping the peace within yourself. When you have peace within, you can express peace to those around you. Church is a place you go to bring back your peace of mind by hearing the word when everything seems out of order. Church should be your place of meditation and serenity, where you become reconnected with the Spirit.

The bottom line is don’t confuse Christianity or any other religion with having a Christ consciousness. No religion can give this to you! Speak to the Creator yourself because you too are a creator in this world. Now, let the church say Amen!
