The Root Chakra (Muladhara) is about grounding yourself and connecting yourself to the Earth. It represents your foundation in regards to your security and survival issues. How do you feel about your living situation? Do you feel you have all the necessities to survive and live a decent life? If the answers to these questions cause emotions of unsureness, uneasiness, stress, or depression, then your Root Chakra may be closed.

The Root Chakra is the root and the foundation of your well-being. If you don’t feel secure in this area of your life, your foundation is weak and anything that grows on top of it may fail. When a building is built, it is built from the ground up. If the roots of the building are shaky, there’s a great possibility the building may fall or fall apart. This is the same for your well-being and your health.

The first thing you may want to do is explore why you have such negative feelings about your security and try to find reasonable ways of improving them. Take a walk in the park and become connected with nature. The point is to try to become grounded with the Earth. You are special and we are all connected so it’s important that you know this. You are not alone and others have gone through your same struggles, but you must remain strong and grounded.

The Root Chakra stone is Jasper and its color is Red. The foods you should eat to help open this chakra is also red in color like tomatoes and sweet potatoes. The ancestors danced in nature to the beating of drums which is very grounding. Listen to music filled with drums and it will bring you strength and courage throughout your day.
