Breaking Traditional Ideas

During my journey of discovering my spirituality, I realized that there are no rules in terms of how things should be done and how. Everything comes within our own timing. Lessons are learned in different seasons of our lives and wisdom comes through our spiritual growth and experiences. We feel we have to be conformed to a certain way of thinking and conformed to looking a certain way oppose to just being ourselves.

Society has fooled us into believing we have no identity or historical background other than slavery. Our spirits has been broken and it seems we are completely lost. We don’t identify with our hair, our clothing or culture. We don’t connect with nature anymore, we don’t praise our Creator anymore and it’s truly sad. I believe we were never materialistic people. Yes, we are royalty and possess many jewels and precious stones however it wasn’t used for fashion. I love my bangle bracelets, I love my nose ring and I honestly feel it’s a part of me. It’s a part of my identity and culture. We are told our natural selves are unacceptable but this idea is unacceptable.

We are placed into categories according to our nationalities and religious backgrounds that do not exist. The only thing that matters is our culture and Spirituality. As people of the Most High we have more in common than we do different. People of the spirit connect through the spirit and not through our outer appearance. We must learn as people we are different and we should embrace that difference as an opportunity to learn something new and exciting about one’s culture.

Embrace who you are with no apologies. Wear your natural hair and explore your natural beauty within. Don’t follow society’s idea of beauty and wealth, define it for yourself. Educate yourself about your ethnic background and ancestors and discover your spiritual roots today.
